Coaching is the process of observing existing thinking, polarities, behavioral and linguistic patterns; setting specific goals, figuring out hidden “blockers”; and supporting the client in making a plan of action and following it to achieve the desired results.
It is creating such a deep respect and rapport, the client feels comfortable, and most of all safe, to move from their “stuck” place to success. Simply, it is defined as “The art of facilitating the performance, learning and development of another.” Others view coaching as a helping profession, which embraces all aspects of life: work and career, relationships, community, self-development, wellness, abundance, education, and spirituality. The coach focuses on the present state with a view to progressing towards a desired future state.
Great communication skills are fundamental for an effective Life and Executive/Leadership Coach. Skilled coaches understand the relationship between how people think and communicate. They have an awareness of the relationship between language patterns and behavior.
The coaching industry is unregulated and there are currently no certification requirements. Nevertheless, I enrolled in the Georgetown University Institute for Transformational Leadership. It is an excellent example of a certifying institution that values these skill sets and trains Coaches to track the assumptions and thinking processes of the client as reflected in their use of language. Being able to track the clients’ beliefs, behaviors, and metaphors of life enables the coach to ask appropriate and pertinent questions of the client. This process facilitates a deep self-exploration for the client that often leads to subtle shifts in the client’s awareness that often make all the difference in making significant progress toward desired outcomes.
Over my close to 30-year career in academia, the private sector, and the past 15 years in Government, I have been most successful when I listen to the students’/ customers’/ clients’ words, observe their actions, and become aware of the way they currently interpret the world around them to give it meaning.
Channeling Archangel Raziel, I approach clients with humility, empathy, unconditional love, and the belief that we are spiritual beings undergoing a physical experience.
The feedback leads to transformation or possibly self-actualization but never failure. Failure is not an option. The ability to identify and interpret this feedback is one of the many ways we seek to find what is blocking a person from their goal.
Then, together, we (the coach and client) create a feed-forward plan of action to achieve goals and eliminate the challenges with the belief that people already have abundant resources within themselves and the love from their environment is unconditional.
In addition, we focus on assisting individuals to set goals, create results, and manage personal change to unleash and leverage their inner potential.
Intelligence is about knowing fine distinctions about a topic or field. Competence is about the application of intelligence. Confidence is the accumulation of these attributes. The finer the distinctions, the more wisdom or perception is available and that is why coaching is so important for me.
The name of the practice is inspired by the Archangel Raziel, a Christian mythological figure, described as having an energy that is mature and wise. Archangel Raziel was one of God’s closest angels. God sent Raziel to teach Adam about the power of voice, the power of thought, and the power of a man’s soul. Adam used his newfound knowledge when praying to God after he listened to Eve and ate the apple. Raziel is also known for always knowing the right answer. He strengthens our trust in God and the supernatural. He has a greater perception of things in general and invites us to strengthen our spiritual relations, especially with God and the other Archangels. Applying Raziel myth inspires the identification of strategies that are already successful in other contexts of a person’s life and to tease out hidden “blockers” that may be keeping their client from achieving their goals. Coaching with this inspiration leads clients to discover how to apply their successful strategies as a way of overcoming their identified polarities which may become “blockers”. By sharing communication tools and strategies for success, this method of coaching builds a relationship with the client that shapes the client’s ability to make better and finer distinctions leading to solid decisions and life choices more naturally and easily.
With over 20 years of professional experience spanning federal government agencies, the private sector, and nonprofit organizations, I am an Executive and Life Coach dedicated to empowering individuals and teams to achieve sustainable transformation. My coaching philosophy is rooted in a client centered approach, where I align with clients as a trusted ally in their journey of self-discovery and growth.
Having lived and worked across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, I bring a unique cultural perspective to my practice. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities for individuals navigating leadership, career transitions, and personal development in diverse and dynamic environments. My mission is to support my clients in unlocking their full potential by fostering meaningful, results-driven change.
Throughout my career, I have held several senior leadership roles at USAID, where I led high impact initiatives and advised on global partnerships. Notable positions include serving as Acting Deputy Director of the Office for Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization in Washington, DC where I developed the Agency’s Mentor-Protégé Program, leading a $73 million, 23-country energy program as Energy Team Leader in Ghana, and serving as Senior Advisor for Climate Finance and Innovation in South Africa, managing relationships with Pan African financial institutions. These roles have equipped me with a deep understanding of leadership dynamics, cross-cultural collaboration, and organizational strategy, which I leverage to guide my clients toward achieving their goals.
In my coaching practice, I specialize in leadership development, career transitions, team building, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, spiritual explorations, and resilience. My work often focuses on helping clients adapt to multinational environments, navigate complex organizational challenges, develop effective communication skills, and discover spiritual identity. Whether I am supporting federal executives, private-sector leaders, or nonprofit professionals, I tailor each coaching relationship to meet their unique needs and aspirations.
My coaching style is empathetic yet results-oriented. I strive to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can reflect, grow, and take actionable steps toward their transformation. While providing guidance and encouragement, I challenge my clients to explore new possibilities and push beyond their perceived limitations. This balance ensures that the coaching relationship fosters deep self-awareness and measurable outcomes.
My academic foundation reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and expertise in leadership and development. I hold a Ph.D. in Agriculture and Extension Education from Michigan State University, an M.Ed. in the same field from Pennsylvania State University, and a B.Sc. in Agriculture (with a focus on agribusiness and agricultural economics) from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I am also a certified coach through the USAID Internal Coach Program and a skilled facilitator of leadership and coaching initiatives.
In addition to coaching, I am a published author, poet, and scholar. My work includes journal articles on transformational development, an e-book titled Building Better Bridges: A Coach’s Perspective on Public-Private Partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa, and a chapter in a University of West Indies compendium on the Diaspora’s contribution to Caribbean development. Now I am expanding the partnership manuscript and merging coaching with a movement to re-engineer the governance system in Haiti. Fluent in Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish, I am adept at connecting with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
You seek to unlock your potential, strengthen your leadership capabilities, or navigate a challenging transition, I am here to guide you. Let’s work together to create meaningful, sustainable change that drives success and fulfillment in your personal and professional life.
